"Going to the Varesine" meant throwing the ball in the little goldfish bowls, climbing up high "flying carpet" slides, entering the house of horrors, mirrors or the roller coaster, which seemed to stand by a miracle: "thrills" that thrilled so many children over the years. For not to mention the dizzying pirate ship, which went dangerously back and forth and looked as if it might take off at any moment, flying over the heads of those passing by on Galilei Street.
